Accreditation is an established methodology for improving the quality and safety of healthcare delivery. JCI has approximately 300 standards which hospitals must meet and 1,200 measurable elements, which are what surveyors examine and score.
Accreditation also examines quality and accountability in the healthcare organization. Quality suggests a never-ending quest for improvement and the aspiration to achieve higher standards.
